A few days after my long trip up to Whistler from Southern Oregon, we headed back up Friday night into Washington for the NW Cup race going down at Stevens Pass. I brought along with me my friend Louis, and my dad drove us. We arrived at our hotel after an 8 hour drive at midnight. The next morning it was all about line choice as we picked our way down the technical, rocky, and rooty course. The course had a mix of everything. After 6 hours of practice we headed out to Leavenworth to get a hotel. The next morning I didn’t feel nervous at all, which is unusual for me. After driving back to the ski resort and getting out gear on we headed up for our practice run before the race. All went well, so we chilled out and waited for our start times. At the top of the course I stretched and did a lot more exercises to stay warm than I usually do. In my race run I sprinted out of the start and powered into the first wooded section. Feeling fast, I continued all way down the course, through the Redbull banner, finishing with an fast time of 3:39 putting me in first place. I was stoked, and got another podium!
